Martin Velíšek is a Czech artist whose painted glass works stand out for their raw energy, dark humor, and surreal narrative style—often described as grotesque or absurdist.
A graduate of the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, where he studied under the renowned glass artist Prof. Stanislav Libenský, Velíšek developed a highly individual aesthetic he calls “Parealism,” merging elements of the gothic, the caricatural, and the provocatively symbolic. His painted glass pieces – typically enamel-painted figures on sculpted glass forms – have been exhibited internationally, including at EXPO 2005 in Japan, and are celebrated for challenging traditional notions of beauty and function in glass art.
