For more than three decades, spanning into the second generation, we have been dedicated to the captivating world of contemporary glass sculpture and the presentation of works by Czech glass artists. In the 1950s, these artists were the pioneers who first recognized the sculptural potential of glass and ushered in the development of modern glass sculpture. Today, they unquestionably rank among the world’s leading artists in this unique art form, owing their success to their exceptional training and craftsmanship. Our exhibitions serve not only as sources of inspiration but also as venues for exchange between collectors and artists. Stig Persson – Museum Exhibition

Stig Persson works with a strictly abstract constructivist and minimalist expression in his glass works, which occasionally contains reminiscences of identifiable surroundings. Our Gallery organized his solo exhibition at the Glass Museum of the Achilles Foundation in Hamburg.

Ivana Šrámková – Museum Exhibition

Jan Exnar – Museum Exhibition

Jan Exnar’s glass sculptures, shown at the Glass Museum of the Achilles Foundation in Hamburg, evoke rugged landscapes and cosmic space through bold forms, vibrant colors, and floating bubbles. He sees glass as dynamic and ever-changing, mirroring the motion of the universe.

Jaroslav Wasserbauer – Solo Exhibition

Jaroslav Wasserbauer belongs to the younger generation of Czech glass artists. He has developed his very own style in the processing and shaping of glass. Architecture, in its broadest sense, plays a defining role in his work, serving as a deep wellspring of inspiration.

Petr Hora – Museum Exhibition

Peter Mandl and Bohumil Eliáš Jr., two sculptors from the Czech Republic, span generations yet share a deep mastery of form—transforming glass and bronze into fluid, contemplative works that bridge tradition and innovation, stillness and movement.

Bohumil Eliáš Jr. – Solo Exhibition

Bohumil Eliáš Jr. completed the classical education as a sculptor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, as a master scholar under Professor Jan Hendrych. With his background of an artist family, Bohumil Eliáš Jr. grew up surrounded by art.

Zora Palová & Štěpán Pala

The Slovak artist couple met in the 1970s at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. While Zora Palová initially forms her sculptures spontaneously and intuitively from clay, Štěpán Pala meticulously plans his works on paper or as scale models.

Jan Fišar – Weight of Time

To mark the tenth anniversary of Jan Fišar’s death, we are honoring the legendary Czech sculptor with a special exhibition of his last available glass sculptures. This rare retrospective includes his groundbreaking first glass work Head and his powerful final piece Predator.

Summer Exhibition 2019

Our Summer group exhibition presents contemporary glass art by artists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Germany. Through diverse artistic approaches and innovative techniques, they transform glass into expressive and captivating works of art.

Jiří Suchý – Solo Exhibition

This solo exhibition showcased glass sculptures and expressive hot-glass paintings by Jiří Suchý, a student of Bořek Šípek. His kiln-formed works echo classical Czech sculpture, while his paintings explore abstraction through layered geometric forms.

Luba Bakičová – Yes Name

Our exhibition presents works by artist Luba Bakičová, whose sculptures are crafted from glass and refractory concrete and seem to defy gravity and time through a precisely halted melting process. Her series Yes Name offers a compelling counterpoint to the concept of anonymity.

Peter Bremers – Solo Exhibition

Peters Bremers, a master of light, captures nature's sublimity in his sculptures. Driven by deep gratitude for nature, his work seeks to convey its power, grandeur, and his ongoing journey of wonder through art, life, and personal exploration of the world around him.

Exceptional Ways – Group Exhibition

Our summer group exhibition features glass artists from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Sweden, and Cyprus. Applying many different approaches and techniques, the artists use glass as a material to create expressive, thought-provoking, and captivating works of art.

Space, Sculpture and Light

In our new theme-based exhibition we will be showing you works by the Czech artists Marian Volráb and Markéta Šílená as well as by Lukas Mjartan and Marek Brincko from Slovakia. The current exhibition focuses on the multifaceted use of structures inside and outside the glass sculptures on display.

IRDS – Ways of Confluence

We are proud to present the first exhibition of Ingrid Račková & David Suchopárek from the Czech Republic. After studying in Prague and founding their IRDS studio in 2001, they now return to art with optical glass sculptures and paintings exploring inner and outer forces.

Middleton & Marek – Polarized Unity

Malvina Middleton and Josef Marek are using the same medium with a different approach and varying results while they understand and support each other in UNITY. The artistic couple have met during their participation in the international exhibition of glass in Coburg.

Petr Stacho – Solo Exhibition

The artist Petr Stacho (born in 1965) studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague under the world-famous glass artist, painter and teacher Vladimír Kopecký. His artistic career was also materially influenced by a sabbatical at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (Belgium).

Artist Group – Rubikon

The “Rubicon” group of artists was established by the theorist Mgr. Ivo Kren in 1997. The group deliberately adopted this designation as the name of the River Rubicon is symbolic of courageous decisions. Accordingly, the artists are going new ways in their work.

Ivana Šrámková – Animals & other Dudes

In creating her works of art, Ivana Šrámkova allows herself to be inspired by the art of indigenous peoples and antiquity. For her glass sculptures, she partly dispenses with the visual characteristics of glass, deliberately making use of its colourful nature instead.

Group exhibition: Masters of Form

The group exhibition features four masters of glass sculpture who demonstrate exceptional skill in working with this challenging material. Geometric forms play a central role in their sculptures. Each artist explores the unique properties of glass in different ways.

Alena Matějka – Between Heaven and Earth

In the final exhibition marking the 25th anniversary in 2015 of the city partnership between Hamburg and Prague, we present stone and glass installations by the artist Alena Matějka, who developed the concept inspired by the novel My Dear, Hunter from Lavondyss.

Bohumil Eliáš Jr. – Solo Exhibition

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Hamburg–Prague city partnership, we presented our second special exhibition in Hamburg’s HafenCity, showcasing glass works by the young Prague artist Bohumil Eliáš Jr., a member of the renowned Czech artist group RUBIKON.

Jan Fišar – Retrospective

Under the title "My View of Life", we are exclusively exhibiting more than 50 of the last available works by the exceptional Czech sculptor and glass artist Jan Fišar, marking the first of three exhibitions celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Hamburg–Prague city partnership.

Luba Bakičová – Solo Exhibition

The young artist Luba Bakičová graduated from the studio glass department of University Jan Evangelista Purkyně, Ústí nad Labem, that is headed by the internationally renowned glass artist Ilja Bílek. The central theme of her work is glass in sculptural art.

Art Jewelry – Sculpted Glass Creations

With our Summer Special 2014, we proudly present the exhibition Sculptured Jewelry Made of Glass, featuring exquisite jewelry and glass objects by the artist Markéta Šílena, as well as unique sculptural jewelry by the artist Svatopluk Kasalý.

Josef Marek – Solo Exhibition

The Czech glass artist Josef Marek is ranked among the foremost contemporary artists working with glass. While using the pure geometric shape in its most abstract form, he creates out of glass unreal illusive objects, sometimes combined with other materials.

Opening of Glasgalerie Stölting

Two festive exhibitions under the title "Czech Glass Art – For 25 Years in Germany" will showcase Czech glass artists at Glasgalerie Hittfeld and the new Glasgalerie Stölting in Hamburg. The event marks the 25th anniversary of Glasgalerie Hittfeld and the opening of Glasgalerie Stölting.

Ivana Šrámková »Creatures«

Ivana Šrámková draws inspiration from indigenous cultures and antiquity. In her monumental sculptures, she downplays glass’s inherent properties, instead emphasizing its vibrant color; her surface treatment deliberately reduces the material’s natural translucency.

Artist Group – Rubikon

Bohumil Eliáš Sr. & Jr. – Generations

This exhibition features works by father and son, showing how Eliáš Jr. follows his father's legacy while forging his own path. He layered painted and etched glass to create depth. Eliáš Jr. combines glass with bronze and stone, using transparency and natural elements to enrich his sculptures.

Jana Voldřichova – My Child’s Soul

Jana Voldřichová belongs to the young generation of Czech artists, using glass in combination with various other materials for a distinctive artistic statement. Her work, presented in this exhibition, was conceived as a total work of art and reflects her experimental, contemporary approach.

Ilja Bilek – Glass Objects

Ilja Bílek creates precise, intricate glass sculptures inspired by architecture and nature, skillfully using color, form, and structure to express his artistic intent. He contrasts opaque and transparent elements to explore light, reflection, and spatial balance in his compositions.

Jan Fišar – Legacy

A few months ago, the outstanding Czech glass artist Jan Fišar passed away at the age of 76. His legacy, a vast collection of imaginative and diverse works, is showcased in this unique exhibition. This exhibition honors his innovative contributions to the world of contemporary glass art.

90 Years of Glass College – Železný Brod

To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Czech Glass School in Železný Brod, the school’s work is honored with this exceptional exhibition. It offers visitors a vivid insight into the origins of contemporary glass art and the pioneering spirit that shaped its evolution.

Rony Plesl – Soul as Form

This striking exhibition showcases the seamless fusion of art and design. Artist and designer Rony Plesl skillfully explores the optical potential of glass, creating a refined equilibrium between form, structure, and the material’s radiant transparency.

20 Years of Glasgalerie Hittfeld

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Glasgalerie Hittfeld, which opened in 1988, a total of 40 leading Czech glass artists will present their works in the exhibition Three Generations, offering a diverse overview of the full spectrum of contemporary Czech glass art.

Jan Fišar – Retrospective 1966 – 2008

Jan Fišar, a visionary sculptor, embarked on his artistic journey with a clear sense of individuality from the very beginning. Known for his innovative approach to working with glass, Fišar quickly carved out a distinctive place for himself in the world of contemporary sculpture.

Alena Matějka – Cloned Mary

In this installation by Alena Matějka, numerous glass figures hang from a tree in the gallery’s garden. Uniform in form yet varied in posture and color, they reflect the artist’s exploration of individuality within repetition - expressing her philosophical view on life’s diversity and commonality.

Department for Foreign Affairs – Exhibition

This exhibition takes place on the occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the German-Czech Declaration on Mutual Relations and their Future Development and is under the patronage of the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Department for Foreign Affairs in Berlin. 

Prof. Vladimir Kopecký and his Glass studio

After 16 years Prof. Vladimir Kopecký will end his pedagogical work as head of the glass studio at the Academy for Applied Arts in Prague. In his honour the graduates and students of his studio organized an exhibition with glass objects which were created during this time.

Glasgalerie Hittfeld is pleased to offer you an insight into the work of Jiřina Žertová, a pioneer of the studio glass movement. For over five decades, her painted glass compositions have explored spatial tension and vibrant depth that shift with the viewer’s gaze.

Arts & Crafts Museum Hamburg

This glass art exhibition is presented by the renowned Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg (Arts and Crafts Museum), one of Europe’s leading institutions for applied arts. It proudly presents exceptional works by the celebrated Czech glass artist.

Chicken Program

Ivana Šramková and Michal Machat belong to the established glass artists in the Czech Republic. They work artistically independently from each other. On the occasion of a symposium they had the opportunity to work together on sculptures for the first time.

Contemporary Czech Glassart – Lübeck

The anniversary exhibition showcases past and recent works by renowned Czech glass artists who have exhibited at our Gallery, which since its founding in 1988 as the first gallery dedicated to contemporary Czech glass has become a hub for artists, collectors, and enthusiasts.

Formed into Embers – Langenfeld

Glasgalerie Hittfeld presented this group exhibition in cooperation with the Cultural Forum Langenfeld (Germany), showcasing works by leading Czech glass artists such as Prof. Stanislav Libenský & Jaroslava Brychtová, Miluše Roubíčková, and René Roubíček.

Anna Matouškova – Architecture

Glasgalerie Hittfeld presented this exhibition at the Tschechisches Zentrum – Czech Point gallery in Berlin, Germany. The gallery is located right next to the former Checkpoint Charlie. The exhibition series in Berlin featuring Czech glass art concluded at the end of July 2003.

Prof. Vladimír Kopecký – Glass Objects

We are proud to announce that, in our extraordinary father–daughter exhibition, Professor Vladimír Kopecký presented his glass objects and paintings for the first time, alongside the remarkable glass sculptures created by his daughter, the artist Anna Matoušková.

Bohumil Eliaš – Glass Sculptures

Marketa Šílena – Glass Objects and Jewelry

The source of inspiration for Markéta Šílená is glass itself. In her search for nature-like structures fused to form strict geometric shapes, she avoids highly polished aggressive surfaces or vivid colours, deliberately applying muted shades and matte surfaces in her mystical glass sculptures.

Jan Fišar – Span Width

Jaroslav Matouš – Glass Objects

During the 14 years since its foundation of Glasgalerie Hittfeld glass loving visitors could contemplate the glass art of many outstanding artists. Whereas most of the Czech artists proceed the glass sculptorally, Jaroslav Matouš is an exception with his painted way to express himself.

Ilja Bílek and his Glass Studio

Since 1996 Ilja Bílek has been leading the glass studio at the Institute of Applied Arts and Design of the University J.E. Purkyne in Usti nad Labem (Czech Republic). Some of Ilja Bílek’s students presented their own objects during this exhibition.

Rony Plesl – Transparent / Translucent

In this compelling exhibition, art and design converge at the highest level. The artist and designer Rony Plesl masterfully harnesses the optical qualities of glass, achieving a precise and harmonious balance between form, structure, and the material’s luminous transparency.

Art Fair – SOFA CHICAGO

In October 2001, Glasgalerie Hittfeld presented a curated selection of leading Czech glass artists at SOFA Chicago (Sculpture Objects & Functional Art) at Navy Pier, marking its debut at one of the most prominent international fairs for contemporary decorative arts.

Martin Velíšek – Painted Glass

Martin Velíšek is a Czech artist known for his expressive painted glass works that blend grotesque, surreal, and ironic imagery. Trained under Prof. Libenský, he developed a distinctive style called "Parealism," and gained international recognition through his participation in EXPO 2005.

Jaroslav Matouš – Glass Objects

Jaroslav Matouš draws inspiration from nature, translating its richness into glass compositions seen from a bird’s-eye view. Using colourful patches, fine lines, and almost pointillist dots, he highlights even the smallest elements, lending them unexpected significance.

10 Years Glasgalerie Hittfeld – Part Two

The recent works of the 65 year old artist Jan Fišar form the priority of this exhibition. Already in 1988 Jan Fišar showed his glass sculptures in Glass Gallery Hittfeld´s first exhibition. In the past 10 years he has constantly presented his work in the glass gallery.

Jan Fišar – Glass Sculptures and Garden

At the International Exhibition for Glass Sculptures & Gardens in Münster 1998, Jan Fišar presented an installation of 33 glass objects. Floating bulbs and rising forms symbolize life’s origin, evolving toward the shore where they culminate in a double figure.

10 Years Glasgalerie Hittfeld – Part One

The Glass Gallery "Glasgalerie Hittfeld" will celebrate its 10th anniversary in autumn this year. During these 10 years we succeeded to awake the interest for this young art by presenting numerous works of the leading Czech glass artists to the broad public.

Young Czech Glass 1997

Nine young Czech glass artists are exhibiting more than 40 works at Glasgalerie Hittfeld, showcasing their creativity both inside and outside the gallery. All of these artists studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, with some already receiving international awards and recognition.

Roubiček couple – 75 Years Jubilee

On their 75th birthdays, the well-known and internationally renowned Czech fine art glassworkers Miluše Roubíčková and René Roubíček celebrate more than fifty years in the glass art profession, each having made a unique contribution to its evolving identity.

Czech and German Glass Art

Since the foundation of her glass gallery, Eliška Stölting solely exhibited objects of Czech glass artists. With this exhibition she has extended her concept by presenting once a year an exhibition of Czech glass art together with the glass art from another country.

Jan Fišar – Retrospective 1966-1997

Czech glass artist Jan Fišar presents a retrospective exhibition at Glasgalerie Hittfeld, showcasing works from three centuries. Since the gallery's founding in 1988, he has been regularly represented there, offering visitors a unique opportunity to follow his artistic development over the years.

The purpose of this one-day exhibition in the facilities of the Czech Embassy in Bonn was to draw attention to Czech glass art and to financially support the work of the Olga-Havel-foundation by possible sales. On the occasion of its fifth anniversary Glasgalerie Hittfeld donated the glass sculpture “The Nameless Woman” by Jan Fisar to the Hamburg Arts and Crafts Museum. This object was presented to the director of this museum, Prof. Wilhelm Hornbostel, during the opening of the exhibition.
