Between Light and Space
Works by Malvina Middleton and Josef Marek
On view are recent works by the acclaimed artists Malvina Middleton and Josef Marek. This exhibition, highlights two distinct voices redefining glass as a medium with innovative perspectives.
Malvina Middleton, born in Cyprus, began her artistic career in painting. Today, she translates her clear, color-intense visual language into the medium of glass. She treats glass like a canvas, infusing it with light, texture, and symbolism. Her sculptures move between geometric precision and organic fluidity. They address contrasts such as mass and levitation as well as memory and renewal.
Josef Marek, born in the Czech Republic, creates works marked by archaic clarity and inner tension. His sculptural approach combines masterful precision with an intuitive sense of form. Although his language of form may seem minimal, it conceals a complex inner structure. In many of his works, he shifts the relationship between weight, balance, and stability toward a state of near-meditative suspension.
