Alena Matějka – Between Heaven and Earth

In the final special exhibition marking the 25th anniversary in 2015 of the city partnership between Hamburg and Prague, we show you installations as well as stone and glass objects by the artist Alena Matejka. Alena Matejka studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her professor Vladimír Kopecký left a lasting impression on her, encouraging her as he did to defy all conventions and to search for what was truly unique.

Bohumil Eliáš Jr. – Glass Sculptures & Paintings

Exhibition date: July 2015 – October 2015

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the city partnership Hamburg-Prague 2015, we cordially invited to Hamburg’s HafenCity to visit our second special exihibition.

With this special exhibition we presented paintings and glass objects of the young Prague artist Bohumil Eliáš Jr. The artist went to Secondary School of Glassmaking in Kamenicky Senov and subsequently completed the classical education as a sculptor at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague, as a master scholar under Professor Jan Hendrych. Bohumil Eliáš Jr. is a member of the group of artists RUBIKON whose members are important representative of the Czech studio glass scene and who enjoy national and international recognition.

Josef Marek – Spaces of Illusion

This solo exhibition provides an insight into current creative work of the artist Josef Marek. This czech glass artist is ranked among the foremost contemporary artists working with glass. While using the pure geometric shape in its most abstract form, he creates out of glass unreal illusive objects, sometimes combined with other materials.

25 Years Anniversary of Glasgalerie Hittfeld and Opening of Glasgalerie Stölting

Exhibition date: October 2013 – March 2014

Two festive events and exhibitions under the collective title “Czech Glass Art – For 25 Years In Germany” will form the setting for the presentation of the elite of Czech glass art in »Glasgalerie Hittfeld« and in »Glasgalerie Stölting« on October 2013. This double event is the 25th anniversary of »Glasgalerie Hittfeld« as well as the opening of »Glasglarie Stölting« in a prime location of Hamburg’s HafenCity, managed by Tom Stölting, the son of the founder of »Glasgalerie Hittfeld«, Eliska Stölting.

Ivana Šrámková »Creatures«

Duration of the exhibition: May – August 2013 – Ivana Srámková seeks her inspiration from indigene people or from the antiquity. For her monumental sculptures the artist partially renounces the strong characteristics of the material glass and takes instead advantage of its colourfulness, whereby the translucency of the glass is limited, due to her manner of modelling the object’s surface.

Artist Group: RUBIKON 2012

Duration of the exhibition: 11 November – 21 December 2012 – The group of artists Rubikon formed around the theorist Mgr. Ivo Kren in 1997. The union of the world famous Czech glass artists Bohumil Elias jr .(1980), Jaroslav Matous (1941), Jan Exnar (1951), Jaromir Rybak (1952) and Marian Volrab (1961) offers the visitors a unique insight into the world of the Czech glass art, whereby each artist stands out with his own personal artistic statement.
