Ivana Šrámková – Solo Exhibition
Exhibition date: May – September 2024
The special exhibition of our artist Ivana Šrámková was exhibited in the Glass Museum of the Achilles Foundation in Hamburg.#
Ivana Šrámková’s little birds flutter about in her imaginary aviary. You can almost hear them chirping and trilling as they strut up and down with dignity. The Czech glass artist creates remarkable objects in a variety of dimensions, using animals and humans, among other subjects, as her motifs.
She breaks with conventions by interpreting the typical properties of the material glass in a new way for her imposing sculptures. Instead of confining herself to its transparent nature, she skillfully uses the colors of the glass to give her works a distinctive aesthetic. She plays with the material’s translucency by deliberately designing the surface structure of her objects. Inspired by nature, indigenous cultures, and antiquity, her works are not only an expression of her own philosophy but also an artistic bridge between the past and the present. Born in 1960 in Liberec, Czech Republic, the artist attended the renowned Glass School in Železný Brod. She then continued her education at the Prague Academy of Art, Architecture, and Design under the renowned glass artist Stanislav Libenský.
