Malvina Middleton & Josef Marek – Polarized Unity

Exhibition date: May 2017 – July 2017

We are proud to present the first common exhibition of this artist couple. Malvina and Josef are using the same medium with a different approach and varying results while they understand and support each other in UNITY. Malvina and Josef have met during their participation in the international exhibition of glass in Coburg. Surprisingly for both of them, they started to realize that they agree and understand each other on most matters of contemporary art, architecture, culture and more.

Solo Exhibition: Petr Stacho

Exhibition date: March 2017 – May 2017

The artist Petr Stacho (born in 1965) studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague under the world-famous glass artist, painter and teacher Vladimír Kopecký. His artistic career was also materially influenced by a sabbatical at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent (Belgium), where he attended the Atelier of Monumental Painting.

Artist Group: RUBIKON 2016

Exhibition date: November 2016 – February 2017

The “Rubicon” group of artists was established by the theorist Mgr. Ivo Kren in 1997. The group deliberately adopted this designation as the name of the River Rubicon is symbolic of courageous decisions. Accordingly, the artists are going new ways in their work. Our group exhibition of the internationally renowned glass artists Bohumil Eliaš jr., Jaroslav Matouš, Jan Exnar, Jaromír Rybák and Marian Volráb, offers a unique insight into the world of Czech glass art.

Ivana Šrámková – Animals & other dudes

Exhibition date: June 2016 – October 2016

In creating her works of art, Ivana Šrámkova allows herself to be inspired by the art of indigenous peoples and antiquity. For her glass sculptures, she partly dispenses with the visual characteristics of glass, deliberately making use of its colourful nature instead. Thanks to the method used in its surface treatment, the glass mass allows the light of the sculptures only to shine through to a limited degree.

Alena Matějka – Between Heaven and Earth

Exhibition date: November 2015 – February 2016

In the final special exhibition marking the 25th anniversary in 2015 of the city partnership between Hamburg and Prague, we show you installations as well as stone and glass objects by the artist Alena Matejka. Alena Matejka studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. Her professor Vladimír Kopecký left a lasting impression on her, encouraging her as he did to defy all conventions and to search for what was truly unique.
