How did the idea come about to found a gallery, and to do so in a community outside the city environs of Hamburg? Theoretically you could also have continued your own artistic activities, couldn’t you?
Somewhere between the things I have already told you there elapsed a period of 15 years and I asked myself: "What can you, how can you, implement all that you have learnt in your life?" It is a question of self-esteem. To put it in simple terms, I had not had enough education and experience with the material glass to become a good artist. Therefore I wanted to try to convey that which I knew and that which I love, and that which hardly anybody here knew

about. Although contemporary glass art in general was almost unknown on the broad public front, I was convinced that quality can be presented everywhere. That is to say also in Hittfeld, where I have been living for 25 years.
I have travelled throughout the world to look at the most famous glass galleries and then I realised that none of them had specialised in the work of one country. This made my decision an easier one: to open a gallery for modern Czech glass art in Hittfeld. With retrospect I would say that this location has distinct advantages.
People who make the long journey to visit me are already interested individuals. They are friends of art who do not submit to conventionalism in art. They are interested in glass art although this has not yet
